Ever Wondered How Video Content Marketing Is Reshaping The Digital Landscape?

Oct 16, 2023

It’s no secret that video is king right now. All you have to do is look to Instagram famously punted on pictures to do what they do best: steal other people’s ideas.

In reality, no idea is original, and when you are one of the biggest companies in the world (Ahem, META), and you have unlimited resources. Why recreate the wheel?

For us peasants, we need to be really careful how we market our services or products.

Personally, I relied heavily on local click marketing for my music studios until one day I realized (through countless days of quantitative research) that click is a race to the bottom. No longer can I beat the SEO monsters by paying for the #1 position on Google. Researching my keywords, I realized that I was becoming a bar of soap on a shelf. Nope, I would have to go back to the drawing board and instead of getting leads (NOW), I needed to cultivate an audience.

In the dynamic realm of digital marketing, one aspect has risen to prominence: video content marketing. From YouTube marketing to the profound influence of digital marketing videos on Instagram and Tiktok, this medium has etched itself as an indispensable tool in a marketer's arsenal. But why is it taking center stage, and how can businesses harness its full potential?

1. Why Video Content Marketing is Great for SEO

The most effective campaigns I see are the ones that are giving away all the stuff and selling a transformation behind a paywall. I have to emphasize something: That paywall is the pink elephant in the room to some.

“Ok, what are they selling?” is generally the operative opinion for most savvy marketers. Your videos have to be speaking to someone and your content has to be educational in nature.

And very actionable. I can’t stress that enough.

Actionable meaning:

  1. It’s a question your customer has that you are answering
  2. Who/ what/ where/ when/ why/ how to do something your customer wants to get accomplished but has no idea how.

Or 3, my favorite, is just enjoyable to watch, is informative on a topic the potential leads are interested in, and keeps the audience engaged.

You can’t go on camera and just start blabbing about how great your company is. It goes back to my rock and roll days in a band.

“No one gives a damn about your band”

Here are other reasons to get video marketing on your to-do list as an asset:

A. Enhanced User Engagement

Platforms like YouTube shorts and other online video marketing channels offer a beautiful blend of entertainment and information.  Digital marketing videos for your site, when crafted compellingly and not something you threw together in 10 minutes with a huge selling vibe, not only engage viewers but also significantly increase the time they spend on your website—a vital metric influencing search engine rankings. You can also reuse this video on all your channels as long as they are informative and helpful for the viewer.

B. Rich Results in SERPs

This may go away with the advent of AI but Modern Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs) have undergone an evolution. Alongside the standard text links, we now witness marketing videos for businesses prominently showcased. These video snippets, especially those curated from digital marketing YouTube channels, garner immediate attention, encouraging higher click-through rates.

C. Increased Backlinks

Pointing to your site is still essential. Creating exceptional video content for marketing can serve as a beacon for backlinks. If your small business video marketing strategy pivots around crafting original and enlightening content, other websites will be inclined to link back to it. Such organic link-building significantly elevates your SEO stature.

D. Favorable Search Engine Algorithms

Google and other overlords may have an algorithm that looks for a few things like “ how important is this site?” Does this site have authors that are experts on a subject?” or do a lot of people go to this site every day?”

That’s really it as far as I am concerned. Of course, driving traffic to your website is only one goal. After that if you are looking to sell something behind a paywall, you need to make sure your offer is compelling and that the people you are phishing there are potential buyers. Search engines like Google place a premium on quality video content, echoing the demand and influence of visual narratives in today's digital world. It's no wonder that businesses are now seeking professional video SEO services to ensure their content gets the spotlight it truly deserves.

E. Mobile Optimization and Increased Traffic

The meteoric rise in mobile device usage has spurred a corresponding interest in mobile-friendly content like YouTube shorts. The optimization of video content for mobile devices, therefore, carries tangible SEO advantages.

2. Thought Leadership: Defining the Vanguard of Industries

A. What is Thought Leadership?

I used to think of Thought Leadership as an aspirational ideal but it really is important to become someone who has a voice. Thought leadership isn't just about being known—it's about pioneering. It's about charting new terrains, offering fresh perspectives, and, perhaps most importantly, influencing. One needn't look further than TED talk marketing sessions, available on platforms like digital marketing YouTube, for outstanding examples of thought leadership in action.

B. Notable Thought Leaders in Various Industries:

For those seeking insight into the domain of online video marketing, several influencers and industry captains consistently share their expertise on platforms like YouTube. Their guidance and strategies often set the trends that others follow. Personally, I go through stages but I find that the Ryan Holidays, Seth Godins, and Tim Ferris of the world all speak to the viewer through exceptional thoughts and ideas they know the viewer will love and then have something on the other side of that they will eventually buy

3. Building Credibility through Generosity: The Pathway from Free Expertise to Paid Services

A. The Power of Generosity in Marketing

In a world teeming with information and choices, standing out requires more than just skill—it demands generosity. Tools like video email marketing or strategies proposed by leading video advertising agencies often offer a preview, a teaser, or a glimpse into what's possible. By extending such insights without immediate monetary expectations, businesses can solidify their expertise and lay the groundwork for enduring client relationships.

D. Selling More than Just a Service

The most compelling advertising video may not always be a direct product promotion. Often, it's about sharing expertise, insights, or a story. Such narratives, frequently encountered in social video marketing, establish trust, hinting at the deeper, more profound engagements possible when one decides to transition from a viewer to a client.

E. Examples of Leveraging Free Expertise

Video advertising agencies might showcase snapshots of their most successful campaigns, highlighting their prowess and potential. Similarly, entities offering YouTube marketing services could proffer free tutorials or strategy insights, only to later segue the audience towards comprehensive, premium courses or consultations.
